Common Alerting Protocol (CAP)
Demonstration Clients

The EDIS Map provides an automatic visual display of current alerts from the State of California's Emergency Digital Information Service (EDIS): The CAP Monitor monitors for Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) alerts from EDIS and displays them as "pop-ups" on your desktop:
Note: The first time you launch either demo you'll be confronted with a dire-looking warning message. That's because we haven't spent the money to buy a third-party security certificate yet (donations are welcome!) Go ahead despite the warning message and click "Start".

These applications are provided "as is" for demonstration and experimental purposes only. They are not certified for operational use and should not be relied upon as a complete or accurate source of warning or information.
About Java Web Start

Both these demos are deployed using the Java Web Start system. Web Start simplifies the delivery and maintenance of Java applications. The first time you use each application it will download from the server. Thereafter, each time you click to start the application Web Start will check to see if there's an updated version on the server, and if not, the copy you downloaded before will be used for a faster startup. You'll always be using the latest deployed version, automatically.

If you don't already have the Java Runtime Environment installed, you can download it free from Sun Microsystems:
