Common Alerting Protocol (CAP)
Demonstration Programs

We have several ongoing demonstration projects utilizing the draft CAP message format:

Mid-Atlantic Intelligent ITS Demonstration
A pair of demonstration applications for demonstration in the Mid-Atlantic region (and nationwide): a prototype "console" for originating CAP messages, and a corresponding "pop-up" client for monitoring the results.
  • Due to server changes this demo is temporarily unavailable
California "EDIS" Demonstration
We have both a monitoring map and a "pop-up" application. Both are driven by the the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services "Emergency Digital Information Service" (EDIS). (EDIS carries bulletins about missing children, earthquakes, severe weather, industrial accidents and other significant events.) All of these demo applications were programmed in Java for portability to all kinds of computers. Updates are applied automatically using the Java Web Start deployment system. (More information on the detail pages.)

These applications are provided "as is" for demonstration and experimental purposes only. They are not certified for operational use and should not be relied upon as a complete or accurate source of warning or information.
